F1® The Movie Film Review
F1 is pure sensory stimulation! The movie isn't short at two and a half hours, but there's not a single dull moment.
Before going in, I actually wondered if I'd fall asleep just watching race cars go round and round. If you've ever tried to seriously watch a real F1 race, you'd know it can be a bit boring because 99% of the time you're just watching cars drive, with very few crashes or overtakes.
However, the cinematography and sound in this film are excellent. You genuinely feel like you're immersed in the world of the cars. Especially when watching it in IMAX, the entire experience is incredibly stimulating. This is definitely a movie you must see in a cinema, and specifically in IMAX, to truly appreciate it.
The final racing sequence is absolutely fantastic. It doesn't need any background music; just the sound of the engines combined with the IMAX experience perfectly conveys Brad Pitt's line, "I am flying."
I'd give it an 8.5/10. The only drawback is the story, which is quite standard: an injured and disheartened person finding their way back to the world stage. Within the team, there's initial friction, someone causing trouble, and then a big happy ending. It's all just the usual blah, blah, blah, so don't expect too much from the plot.
It's also worth seeing just for Brad Pitt – he's still so cool even at over 60!
