Film Review: Ballerina - Decent but Not Outstanding

Most of the expectations going into the movie were disappointed.
The John Wick series is all about watching one person take on a hundred, with the most important aspect being its sheer absurdity! A dog and a car is enough to trigger a massive killing spree. However, Ballerina clearly lays out the Eve’s (Ana de Armas) backstory and her reasons for seeking revenge right from the start.
The story mentions a tribe with a thousand years of history, one that everyone fears and avoids talking about, maintaining a delicate balance to avoid conflict. But in the end, it’s just a group of amateurs who get taken down single-handedly by the protagonist.
The action scenes are somewhat fresh and engaging at times, but due to the weak storyline, the movie relies too heavily on fight sequences. By the mid-to-late parts, it starts to feel repetitive and boring.
The biggest draw is still Keanu Reeves, but shockingly, he doesn’t say his signature catchphrase, “Yeah”. What’s going on?!!
I’d give it a 6.5 / 10. It’s decent enough to watch in theaters, but don’t go in with high expectations.
