Jurassic World: Rebirth Movie Review
Honestly, this franchise has always had a bad reputation, especially the last two installments, which received very low scores online. I even fell asleep watching them.
So, I had absolutely no expectations for this new film. I only went to the cinema to experience it because Scarlett Johansson was in it.
Right from the start, the movie had an "Alien" vibe with a bit of a horror feel. Later on, the dinosaurs turned into monsters... they were really ugly and hideous. The genetic modification made them all look like aliens, and the entire setting was really weird. It even suggested that governments worldwide just didn't care, and these "aliens" were somehow confined to the island and couldn't escape.
What I disliked the most was that the supposedly "elite" team ended up with only two survivors, while the ordinary family came out completely unscathed. And there was one scene where the team was supposed to rappel down a cliff, but suddenly the camera cut, and they were just walking down stairs?! It felt like they were just shooting for the sake of shooting. What happened there?
The entire film had no memorable moments, and the storyline was incredibly generic. There weren't even any really tense action sequences. What happened to this series? In its early days, the subject matter was unique and fresh, but it's just gotten worse with each film. I'd give it a 4/10, with 1 point specifically for Scarlett Johansson. It's completely not worth watching in the cinema. I guess Universal Pictures won't give up on this series, but they really need to figure out its direction.
