A New Era for Northampton Cinema

The Cineworld at Sixfields closed on January 19, 2025, after its landlord, Legal & General, opted to reclaim the property during the chain’s restructuring, sparking local petitions with over 800 signatures to save it. ODEON seized the opportunity, renovating the site into a state-of-the-art ODEON Luxe cinema, the only one in Northamptonshire after the Kettering ODEON’s closure in January 2025. Opened on May 26, 2025, the cinema welcomed eager moviegoers with its first screenings, including Lilo & Stitch (2025) and Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning.

Sian Jenkins, ODEON’s UK and Ireland commercial director, called the project a “fantastic opportunity,” citing the site’s prime location near dining and leisure amenities. Brit Voller, the cinema’s manager, expressed excitement: “It’s been a journey, but we can’t wait to welcome guests”.
