24 Hour Party People

Synopsis

In 1976, ambitious Manchester TV presenter Tony Wilson attends a fateful Sex Pistols gig that inspires him and his friends to found Factory Records and launch the legendary Haçienda nightclub. Documenting the rise and chaotic evolution of the Manchester music scene from the late 1970s through the early 1990s, the story captures the birth of iconic post-punk and rave-era bands, including Joy Division, New Order, and Happy Mondays. Blending dark comedy, fourth-wall breaks, and rock history, Wilson navigates the anarchic idealism, creative brilliance, drug-fueled excess, and financial ruin of the Madchester cultural movement.
