Synopsis

In 1970s San Diego, egotistical news anchor Ron Burgundy reigns supreme as the top-rated voice in local television alongside his chauvinistic newsroom team consisting of field reporter Brian Fantana, sportscaster Champ Kind, and dim-witted meteorologist Brick Tamland. Ron's comfortable status quo is thrown into chaos when ambitious and talented journalist Veronica Corningstone is hired as the station's first female news anchor. While Ron initially attempts to woo her, Veronica refuses to be sidelined as a token hire and demands equal airtime. As romantic sparks briefly give way to an explosive workplace rivalry, Ron's professional arrogance leads to a disastrous public downfall, costing him his job and reputation. However, when a crisis erupts at the San Diego Zoo involving a pregnant panda, Ron and Veronica must overcome their fierce egos and work together to deliver the story, discovering mutual respect amidst the comedic madness of local broadcast television.
