Armageddon

Synopsis

When NASA discovers an asteroid the size of Texas is on a collision course with Earth, the agency has less than three weeks to prevent a global extinction event. NASA Executive Director Dan Truman determines that the only viable solution is to drill into the core of the asteroid and detonate a nuclear weapon from within. To accomplish this impossible task, NASA recruits Harry Stamper, the world's foremost deep-sea oil driller. Harry agrees to head the dangerous space mission under one condition: he must bring his own misfit, roughneck drilling crew. Among them is A.J. Frost, a young, headstrong hotshot who is secretly romantically involved with Harry's protective daughter, Grace. After undergoing an accelerated and grueling astronaut training program, the crew launches into space aboard two experimental shuttles. Facing catastrophic technical failures, extreme space environments, and tense internal conflicts, these everyday blue-collar workers must sacrifice everything to save humanity from total annihilation.
