Blood Diamond

Synopsis

In the midst of a brutal civil war fueled by the trade in "conflict diamonds," the lives of three very different people collide. Danny Archer (Leonardo DiCaprio), a cynical Rhodesian mercenary and smuggler, learns of a rare, massive pink diamond discovered by Solomon Vandy (Djimon Hounsou), a fisherman who was torn from his family and forced to work in the diamond mines.

While Archer sees the stone as his ticket out of Africa, Solomon sees it as his only hope to rescue his son, who has been brainwashed into becoming a child soldier. Together, they form an uneasy alliance to recover the gem, aided by Maddy Bowen (Jennifer Connelly), an idealistic American journalist determined to expose the complicity of the international diamond industry in the continent’s bloodshed. Their journey through rebel-held territory becomes a harrowing quest for redemption, family, and the truth.
