Synopsis
In 1985, at the height of the 'video nasty' moral panic in the UK, Enid Baines is a meticulous film censor who takes pride in protecting the public from the effects of simulated violence. Her orderly life begins to unravel when she is assigned to review a disturbing archive film that mirrors the hazy, traumatic memories of her sister's mysterious disappearance years ago. Convinced that the film's lead actress is her long-lost sibling, Enid descends into an obsessive investigation that leads her to the set of a reclusive horror director. As the lines between the cinematic gore she censors and her own reality begin to blur, Enid is forced to confront the dark truth of her past. This stylish psychological horror debut explores the intersection of memory, media, and madness, ultimately questioning whether we can ever truly edit out the horrors of our own history.
