Synopsis

Set against the vast, wintry landscapes of Montana, the film weaves together three loosely connected stories of women forging their own paths through personal and professional isolation:

The Lawyer: Laura (Laura Dern) finds herself caught in a wearying legal battle with a disgruntled client (Jared Harris) that escalates into a low-key but tense hostage situation.

The Pioneer: Gina (Michelle Williams), a determined wife and mother, faces subtle friction with her family and an elderly neighbor as she attempts to secure authentic local sandstone for her dream home.

The Rancher: A lonely, unnamed ranch hand (Lily Gladstone) develops a deep, unarticulated infatuation with Beth (Kristen Stewart), a young lawyer who drives four hours twice a week to teach a weary adult education class.

As their lives brush against one another in a small town, a portrait emerges of flawed, strong-willed individuals navigating the gap between their desires and the social expectations of the modern West.
