Synopsis

Based on a true, and little-known, story, *Dongji Rescue* is a powerful historical drama set during World War II. After a Japanese ship secretly carrying British prisoners of war is torpedoed, it is up to a group of Chinese fishermen from the nearby Dongji Island to risk their lives to rescue the survivors. The film honors the extraordinary courage and selfless humanity of these ordinary people who, in the face of brutal Japanese forces, defied orders and risked everything to save lives.
