Synopsis
Set in the summer of 1983 just before the release of his book The Witches, Giant captures a tense, explosive confrontation at the family home of world-famous children's author Roald Dahl. Following the public outrage sparked by an explicitly antisemitic literary review he wrote regarding the Lebanon War, Dahl is cornered by his British and American publishers, Tom Maschler and Jessie Stone. Across a single afternoon, a high-stakes battle of wills unfolds as his team frantically tries to contain the catastrophic fallout and salvage his literary legacy. The fiercely charismatic yet deeply stubborn icon is forced to choose between offering a sincere public apology or completely destroying his towering reputation. Based on real historical events, this compelling and darkly humorous filmed theatrical production explores the thin line between considered opinion, dangerous rhetoric, and the complicated nature of a cultural titan under siege.
