Synopsis
Based on Hayley Kiyoko's hit song and best-selling debut novel, Girls Like Girls is a tender coming-of-age romance set during the summer of 2006. Seventeen-year-old Coley is grieving the tragic loss of her mother when she is forced to relocate to the small town of Rural, Oregon, to live with her estranged father. Lonely, isolated, and uncertain of her future, Coley's world brightens when she meets Sonya, a magnetic and charming local girl who warmly welcomes her into her inner circle. As the two teenagers spend long summer days together, their bond deepens from friendship into a delicate, passionate romance. However, Sonya is trapped in a closeted relationship with her boyfriend, afraid of facing social rejection in her conservative town. As secrets unravel and feelings intensify, Coley must learn to accept her identity and fight for love in a world that tries to keep them apart.
