Synopsis

Dr. Ryan Stone (Sandra Bullock) is a brilliant medical engineer on her first shuttle mission, accompanied by veteran astronaut Matt Kowalsky (George Clooney) in command of his final flight before retirement. During a seemingly routine spacewalk, a catastrophic chain reaction of satellite debris strikes their shuttle, destroying the craft and leaving the two astronauts completely alone—tethered to nothing but each other and spiraling out into the blackness.

With their link to Earth severed and their oxygen levels rapidly depleting, the duo must navigate the terrifying silence of the vacuum to reach a distant space station. As fear turns to panic, Stone must find the inner strength to survive a series of escalating disasters in an environment where there is no air, no pressure, and no hope of rescue.
