Synopsis
In 1962, Tony "Lip" Vallelonga (Viggo Mortensen), a tough-talking Italian-American bouncer from the Bronx, is looking for work while his nightclub is closed for renovations. He is hired to drive Dr. Don Shirley (Mahershala Ali), a world-class Black classical pianist, on a concert tour through the Deep South.
Despite their vastly different backgrounds—one a blue-collar street brawler, the other a refined, lonely virtuoso—the two men are forced to rely on The Negro Motorist Green Book to find the few establishments safe for Shirley. As they navigate a landscape of systemic racism and personal peril, their initial friction gives way to an unexpected bond. Through their journey, they discover that while the world may try to define them by their differences, their shared humanity is what truly matters.
