Synopsis

Skeptical insurance investigator John Trent is hired by a major publishing house to locate Sutter Cane, a insanely popular horror novelist who has vanished without a trace along with the manuscript for his final, highly anticipated book. Accompanied by Cane's editor, Linda Styles, Trent travels into New England following hidden clues embedded in the author's book covers. Their search leads them to Hobb's End, a bizarre town thought to exist only within Cane's fictional universe. As they arrive, the boundaries between reality and fiction shatter: the town's grotesque residents descend into madness, cosmic monsters break through into the real world, and Trent realizes that reading Cane's terrifying work alters human consciousness, threatening to plunge all of humanity into an apocalyptic nightmare.
