Synopsis
In 1969 London, rising Australian media mogul Rupert Murdoch acquires the struggling broadsheet newspaper The Sun with plans to disrupt the traditional British media landscape. Appointing rogue Daily Mirror editor Larry Lamb to helm the paper, the duo sets out to revolutionize print journalism by giving working-class readers populist entertainment, sensational headlines, and provocative pop culture coverage. As The Sun rapidly transforms into Britain's most influential tabloid, the ruthless pursuit of readership pushes journalistic boundaries and disrupts Fleet Street standards. However, when a high-profile public campaign involving a high-stakes kidnapping backfires, the team is forced to confront the dark ethical compromises, sensationalism, and collateral damage left in the wake of modern tabloid journalism's birth.
