Synopsis

In this hilarious mockumentary, beloved Yorkshire organist and aspiring singer-songwriter John Shuttleworth sets out on a quirky quest to prove his longstanding theory: that the further north you travel in Great Britain, the friendlier the people become. Accompanied by photographer Martin Parr, Shuttleworth journeys to the northernmost tip of the UK—the picturesque Shetland Islands. Armed with his trusty Yamaha keyboard, an unflappable sense of optimism, and an endless supply of mild-mannered curiosity, he interacts with local islanders in a series of unscripted and gently absurd encounters. From discussing local wildlife and baked goods to performing impromptu concerts, John navigates the unique culture and charm of the Shetlands. However, as he puts his theory to the ultimate test, he discovers that winning over the islanders requires more than just a cheery disposition and a catchy tune, resulting in a heartwarming and uniquely British comedy experience.
