Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie
Synopsis
Seventeen years after forming Nirvanna the Band in Toronto, musicians Matt Johnson and Jay McCarrol are still desperately striving to book their dream gig at the legendary Rivoli. Following a long string of failed schemes, their latest plan to sneak into the venue goes spectacularly wrong, accidentally triggering a rift in time that transports them back to the year 2008. Thrust into a bygone era of abundant Orbitz drinks and intact friendships, the clueless duo must navigate the cultural landscape of the late 2000s while trying to correct history without ruining their own futures. Written and directed by Matt Johnson, this chaotic mockumentary expands their beloved cult comedy series into a feature-length cinematic event. Packed with the franchise's trademark guerrilla filmmaking, fair use pop-culture parodies, and hilariously boundary-pushing public stunts, the film serves as a wistful yet raucous celebration of ambition, friendship, and the lengths to which two independent creators will go to capture their long-awaited moment in the spotlight.
