Synopsis

Dr. Louis Creed and his family move to a picturesque home in rural Maine, seeking a quiet life. Their tranquility is shattered when their friendly neighbor, Jud Crandall, introduces them to a mysterious burial ground hidden deep in the woods behind their house, used for generations by local children to inter their pets. When a tragic accident claims the life of the family cat, Jud reveals a darker secret: an ancient Indian burial ground beyond the pet cemetery that possesses the power of resurrection. Despite warnings that 'sometimes dead is better,' a grief-stricken Louis uses the site's power after an even greater family tragedy. However, those who return are not the same as they were in life, bringing with them a malevolent presence that threatens to consume the entire family.
