Synopsis
In the heart of Dublin, Rick, a past-his-prime wedding singer with a library of unproduced songs, strikes up an unlikely friendship with Danny Wilson, a fading boy-band star desperate for a solo comeback. During a booze-fueled late-night jam session, the two collaborate on a melody that feels like pure magic. However, the harmony quickly sours when Danny turns the track into a chart-topping hit without giving Rick any credit. Caught between his quiet life and the craving for the legacy he was always denied, Rick embarks on a quest to reclaim his artistic ownership. Directed by John Carney, the filmmaker behind Once and Sing Street, this musical comedy-drama is a vibrant and bittersweet exploration of ambition, the ethics of creative credit, and the enduring power of a great song. It captures the raw energy of the Irish music scene while testing the limits of friendship in the face of sudden fame.
