Synopsis

Sally and Gillian Owens, two sisters raised by their eccentric aunts in a small New England town, belong to a long lineage of witches. For generations, the family has been plagued by a devastating curse: any man who falls in love with an Owens woman is doomed to an untimely death. While the quiet Sally tries to avoid her magical heritage and lead a normal life, the free-spirited Gillian embraces her wild side, eventually running off with a dangerous, abusive boyfriend named Jimmy Angelov. When Gillian's relationship takes a dark turn, Sally comes to her rescue, leading to an accidental poisoning and the sudden death of Jimmy. Panicked, the sisters attempt a forbidden resurrection spell that inadvertently unleashes Jimmy's dark spirit to haunt them. As a suspicious state investigator arrives to probe Jimmy's disappearance, the sisters must band together and use every ounce of practical magic they possess to break the family curse and save their lives.
