Primetime
Synopsis
Set in 2006, Primetime follows charismatic TV journalist Chris Hansen during the meteoric rise of the hit investigative news segment To Catch a Predator. Partnering with an intense online vigilante group and local law enforcement, Hansen sets up hidden-camera sting operations in suburban homes to confront alleged internet predators on national television. As ratings soar and Hansen becomes a household name, the high-stakes pursuit of justice turns into an sensationalized media spectacle. Entangled in his own inflating ego, dubious ethics, and the relentless pressure for bigger ratings, Hansen pushes the boundaries of journalistic integrity. When an ambitious sting operation in Texas goes horribly wrong, the line between holding criminals accountable and exploiting human tragedy blurs, triggering a devastating fallout that threatens to dismantle his career and legacy.
