Scarlet

Synopsis

In 16th-century Denmark, Princess Scarlet (Mana Ashida) adores her father, the benevolent King Amleth. Her world shatters when her uncle, Claudius (Kōji Yakusho), executes a brutal coup and murders the King. Blinded by rage, Scarlet spends years training as an elite assassin, only for her revenge plot to end in tragedy: she is poisoned and dies before she can strike.

However, Scarlet’s journey is far from over. She awakens in the Otherworld—a surreal, purgatorial landscape where the dead from all eras of history converge. In this "land of the dead," she encounters Hijiri (Masaki Okada), an idealistic EMT from modern-day Tokyo. Together, they embark on a perilous odyssey toward the "Infinite Land." To reach it, Scarlet must confront a monstrous version of her past and decide if she can finally let go of her sword to embrace a future free from bitterness.
