Synopsis

Widowed architect Sam Baldwin (Tom Hanks) is stuck in a cycle of grief until his eight-year-old son, Jonah, takes matters into his own hands. On Christmas Eve, Jonah calls a national radio talk show and nudges his reluctant father to go on the air to talk about his late wife. Sam’s vulnerability and heart-wrenching honesty captivate thousands of listeners, who quickly dub the mysterious widower "Sleepless in Seattle."

Across the country in Baltimore, journalist Annie Reed (Meg Ryan) hears Sam’s voice while driving and feels an inexplicable, "magic" connection—despite being engaged to the safe, allergy-prone Walter (Bill Pullman). Driven by a feeling she can’t ignore and inspired by the classic film An Affair to Remember, Annie begins a cross-country quest to find Sam. Without ever having met, the two are drawn toward a fateful Valentine’s Day encounter at the top of the Empire State Building.
