Synopsis

Ruben is a passionate heavy-metal drummer who tours across the country in an RV with his singer girlfriend, Lou. Both recovering addicts, they have built a stable life around their shared passion for music. However, Ruben's world is shattered when he suddenly experiences severe, rapid hearing loss, leaving him with only a fraction of his hearing intact. Fearing a relapse and struggling to accept that his music career and old life may be over, he agrees to join a remote shelter for Deaf recovering addicts run by Joe, a compassionate veteran. At the commune, Ruben is challenged to embrace silence, learn American Sign Language, and adapt to his new reality within a supportive Deaf community. Yet, torn between accepting his new identity and desperately pursuing costly surgical implants to restore what he lost, Ruben must navigate a deeply emotional journey toward finding internal peace.
