Tenzing
Synopsis
Tenzing tells the inspiring true story of Sherpa Tenzing Norgay and New Zealand mountaineer Edmund Hillary as they embark on their heroic 1953 expedition to conquer Mount Everest. Born into poverty in the high Himalayas, Tenzing spends years serving as an unsung guide for foreign expeditions while harboring a personal dream to reach the planet's highest peak. Partnering with the determined Hillary under the leadership of Colonel John Hunt, Tenzing faces treacherous icefalls, sub-zero temperatures, depleting oxygen supplies, and political tensions surrounding the British expedition. Beyond the perilous physical climb, the film explores the deep bond forged between two men from vastly different worlds and highlights Tenzing's pride in representing his Sherpa community. Their triumphant summit on May 29, 1953, forever altered history and solidified their legacy as global icons.
