The Climb

Synopsis

The story begins with a brutal revelation: during a grueling bike ride up a steep French mountain, Mike (Covino) confesses to his best friend Kyle (Marvin) that he is having an affair with Kyle’s fiancée. This betrayal sets off a decade-long odyssey of emotional turmoil, awkward reunions, and inexplicable loyalty.

Divided into several distinct chapters—or "vignettes"—the film follows the duo through weddings, funerals, and holiday gatherings. No matter how many times Mike blows up Kyle’s life, the two remain inextricably linked. It’s a darkly comic exploration of whether a "best friend" is someone who helps you grow, or simply the person who knows exactly how to push your buttons for the rest of your life.
