The Day of the Beast

Synopsis

Father Ángel Berriartúa, a mild-mannered Basque priest and theology professor, discovers a hidden code in the Bible revealing that the Antichrist will be born in Madrid on Christmas Eve. Believing he must commit as many sins as possible to infiltrate the Devil's inner circle and prevent the apocalypse, Ángel embarks on a surreal, sin-filled spree through the neon-lit streets of the Spanish capital. He is joined by an unlikely pair of allies: José María, a heavy-metal fan and self-proclaimed Satanist, and Professor Cavan, a fraudulent host of an esoteric TV show. As the trio descends into a gritty world of occult rituals and urban violence, they must navigate a landscape of social unrest and right-wing terror to find the unholy birthplace. Directed by Álex de la Iglesia, this cult horror-comedy blends pitch-black humor with visceral thrills, creating a diabolically clever satire of religion and turn-of-the-millennium society.
