Synopsis
When a mysterious spacecraft lands in New York City, it brings Klaatu, an alien messenger who has traveled across the universe to deliver a dire warning to humanity. Accompanied by a massive, indestructible robot named Gort, Klaatu reveals that Earth has reached a tipping point of ecological destruction. As world leaders react with suspicion and military force, astrobiologist Dr. Helen Benson and her stepson Jacob become Klaatu's unlikely allies. While the government views the visitors as a threat to national security, Helen realizes that Klaatu’s mission is not to save humankind, but to save the planet from humankind. As a swarm of self-replicating nanobots begins to consume everything in its path, Helen must convince the alien ambassador that humanity is capable of change. This high-stakes remake of the 1951 sci-fi classic explores themes of environmental responsibility and the survival of the human race in a race against total extinction.
