The Great Gatsby

Synopsis

In the spring of 1922, aspiring writer Nick Carraway (Tobey Maguire) moves to New York and finds himself living next door to a mysterious, ultra-wealthy millionaire: Jay Gatsby (Leonardo DiCaprio). Gatsby is famous for his extravagant, booze-soaked parties, but as Nick is drawn into his inner circle, he realizes the spectacles are all for one purpose—to lure back his lost love, Nick’s cousin Daisy Buchanan (Carey Mulligan).

Daisy, however, is trapped in a marriage to the old-money philanderer Tom Buchanan (Joel Edgerton). As Gatsby and Daisy rekindle their dangerous affair, a tragic chain of events unfolds, revealing the obsession, corruption, and social divide hidden beneath the shimmering surface of the Roaring Twenties.
