The Incomer

Synopsis

Set on a remote Scottish island, siblings Isla and Sandy have lived an isolated existence for decades, surviving by hunting seabirds, recounting family folklore, and fiercely defending their home from unwanted outsiders. Their eccentric, tightly guarded routine is upended by the arrival of Daniel, a painfully awkward council worker sent by the mainland government to evacuate and relocate them. While Isla views the bureaucrat as an immediate threat and Sandy greets him with naive curiosity, Daniel struggles to adapt to the island's strange rituals and harsh conditions. As the siblings initiate Daniel into their way of life and he introduces them to modern concepts of the outside world, their mutual hostility gradually dissolves. Together, the unlikely trio is forced to confront the myths, grief, and shared isolation that have shaped their lives, discovering what it truly means to belong.
