The Invite
Synopsis
Joe and Angela are a married couple whose relationship has hit a stagnant rough patch, with resentment simmering just beneath the surface of their everyday lives. Their evening takes a sharp and unexpected turn when Angela invites their upstairs neighbors, Pina and Hawk, over for a casual dinner. What begins as an awkward social obligation quickly spirals into a provocative and hilarious night of revelations as Joe decides to confront the neighbors about their frequent and audible lovemaking. However, the conversation shifts from petty complaints to a shocking invitation: Pina and Hawk reveal their open lifestyle and invite Joe and Angela to join their weekly orgies. Adapted from the Spanish hit The People Upstairs, Olivia Wilde's sharp-witted comedy explores the boundaries of modern intimacy, the challenges of long-term commitment, and the chaotic, emotional repair work required to keep a marriage alive in a world of shifting sexual mores.
