Synopsis
In 1945, towards the end of World War II, Grace Stewart resides in a secluded, sprawling country estate on the Isle of Jersey with her two young children, Anne and Nicholas. Both children suffer from a rare photo-sensitivity disease that makes sunlight deadly, forcing the household to live under strict rules where no door is opened before the previous one is locked, and windows remain permanently shrouded in thick curtains. As Grace hires three mysterious new servants—Mrs. Mills, Mr. Tuttle, and Lydia—to replace her missing household staff, strange and unexplainable occurrences begin to plague the mansion. Anne claims to see invisible intruders and a young boy named Victor, but Grace initially dismisses her daughter's stories as wild fabrications. As whispered voices, piano music playing in empty rooms, and moving furniture escalate, Grace becomes convinced that uninvited spirits have invaded her home, leading to a chilling confrontation with the terrifying truth.
