Under The Skin
Under the Skin
Synopsis
An extraterrestrial entity takes on the form of an alluring young woman and drives a van through the streets and countryside of Scotland. Disguised as a human, she lures unsuspecting, solitary men into her vehicle under the guise of casual conversation and seduction. She guides them to a surreal, pitch-black void where they are submerged in an oily liquid abyss, harvested for an unknown, otherworldly purpose. Guided and covered by a mysterious motorcyclist who cleans up her trail, the alien operates with cold, predatory detachment. However, as she encounters a wide array of human experiences—including a profoundly vulnerable man with a facial disfigurement—she begins to experience empathy and self-awareness. Fascinated by human emotion, sensation, and her own physical form, she attempts to abandon her sinister mission and live as a mortal. Her newfound humanity leaves her vulnerable to the dangers of the human world, culminating in a disturbing and tragic confrontation in the Scottish woods.
