Where the Wild Things Are
Synopsis
Max is a sensitive, rambunctious young boy who feels misunderstood and neglected at home. After a heated argument with his mother, he dons his wolf suit and runs away, sailing across a vast sea to a mysterious island inhabited by giant, unpredictable creatures known as the Wild Things. These beasts, whose emotions are as volatile as their actions, are desperately searching for a leader to bring harmony to their fractured group. Max is soon crowned their king, promising to build a kingdom where everyone is happy. However, he quickly discovers that ruling is far more complicated than he imagined, as the Wild Things' complex personalities and deep-seated insecurities mirror the very human struggles he left behind. Directed by Spike Jonze, this visually stunning adaptation of Maurice Sendak's classic book is a poignant, uncompromising exploration of the wildness of childhood emotions and the bittersweet journey toward growing up.
