Zola

Synopsis

The story begins with a now-iconic opening line: "Y'all wanna hear a story about why me and this bitch here fell out?" Zola (Taylour Paige), a savvy Detroit waitress and part-time stripper, meets the impulsive Stefani (Riley Keough) at a diner. After a single day of bonding, Stefani convinces Zola to join her on a cross-country trip to Florida with the promise of making thousands in high-end strip clubs.

The trip quickly spirales into a nightmare when Zola realizes she’s been lured into a trap. Accompanied by Stefani’s erratic boyfriend (Nicholas Braun) and a mysterious, menacing "roommate" named X (Colman Domingo), Zola finds herself caught in a dangerous web of pimping, betrayal, and violence. Armed only with her wits and her phone, Zola must navigate a series of increasingly surreal and life-threatening encounters to make it back home alive.
